DAY 1: NAIROBI – NAIVASHA
Proceed and descend to the floor of the Great Rift Valley that is rich for bird lovers. We take Lunch at Lake Naivasha Country Club. This is a home to nearly 450 bird species among them Pelican and Cormorants. After lunch proceed to Hell’s Gate National Reserve which derived its name from the great geographical activities that did result in features like the Njorowa Gorge, Fischer’s and Central towers. This is also the only place you can spot the rear Lammerger Vultures among other species.
DAY 2: NAIVASHA
Morning and afternoon birding with assistance of a resident’s naturalist. This lake is a fresh water lake therefore one cannot spot the famous flamingos here but there are other water birds like the Egyptian duck and white billed Pelicans. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: NAKURU
Still keeping on the floors of the Great Rift Valley, we settle for the world’s well known Lake Nakuru famous for its millions of Flamingoes. Both sub species, lesser and greater Kudu are present and are easy to spot as well as the African fish eagle, superb sterling etc. Lunch; Rest of the afternoon bird watching. Full day birding around the lodge with the aid of a resident birdwatcher
Day 4: Nakuru
Full day birding. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Nakuru – Baringo
A full breakfast, we drive north to Lake Baringo which together with Lake Naivasha is the only freshwater lake on the floor of the Rift Valley. It appears brown in colour because it lacks an outlet and the silt settles. On your way to the lake, you stop at Kampi ya Samaki where there is the largest concentration of verreoux eagle's nestings. Lunch. Afternoon birding with the help of an experienced watcher and discover why this is bird's paradise not worth missing. You may also have a chance to watch bird's slides.
Day 6: Baringo
Morning and afternoon birding with assistance of a resident’s naturalist.
Day 7: Baringo Kakamega
After breakfast, drive further to the west to the only remaining representative of the equatorial forest in Kenya, Kakamega National Forest Reserve. Lunch. This forest houses more than 350 average species among them Cuckoos, Golden orioles, Swallows, Turacos etc.
Day 8: Kakamega
Full day bird watching with picnic lunch. Some species to be spotted here are endemic to this reserve.
Day 9: Kakamega Nairobi
After sumptuous breakfast, we journey back to Nairobi approximately 450km arriving late afternoon.
