EASTER PILGRIMAGE TO ISRAEL FOR CATHOLIC FAITHFULS

 

 

Day 1:

Report at JKIA airport to catch your flight to Israel.

 

 

Day 2:

On arrival in Israel met and transferred to a city hotel for breakfast. After breakfast travel via the coast to Caesarea, where Paul was held prisoner by the Romans. Visit the Roman and Crusader ruins and then we drive through the Carmel Mountains heading for the Galilee. We visit the shrine of Stella Maris in Haifa and in the afternoon, we proceed to Sepphoris, the regional city at the time of Jesus.

Day 3:

After breakfast, take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to see the Synagogue and St. Peter’s house. Visit the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the famous Sermon on the Mount, on to Tabgha to see the splendid mosaic of the loaves and fishes, and to the nearby Church of Peter‘s Primacy where Peter was told "Feed my lambs, feed my sheep." There will be an unforgettable mass on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Afternoon visit to Mount Tabor, the scene of the Transfiguration.

Day 4:

Breakfast, then drive to Cana the village of Jesus’ first miracle. Continue to the Basilica of Annunciation in Nazareth where mass will be celebrated and proceed to Mary’s well, Nazareth village an excavated village dating from 1 AD now carefully renovated to give an insight into how it would have been at the time of Jesus. Drive down Jordan Valley & head to Jerusalem.

Day 5: HOLY THURSDAY

Today join the Mass for washing of the Feet in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and then we visit St Anne’s Church, the Flagellation, and Zion Sisters.  In the afternoon, visit the Western Wall and the Dome of Rock.  Join the Pilgrimage of the Cenacle and the Churches of St James and St Mark on Mount Zion.  After dinner, proceed to Gethsemane and the Rock of Agony where Jesus uttered his last prayer. Retrace the last hours of Jesus and join in the Holy Hour in the Basilica of the Agony in Gethsemane.

Day 6: GOOD FRIDAY

After breakfast visit the Mount of Olives for a wonderful view of the Old City of Jerusalem, stopping at the Place of Ascension, the Pater Noster Church with its caves of the Teachings and Gethsemane Church. Continue on to visit St Peter in Gallicantu built over the Palace of Caiaphas, where Peter denied Christ.   Late afternoon enter the Old City to take part in the ancient Way of the Cross Procession on the Via Dolorosa.

Day 7: HOLY SATURDAY

After breakfast start the day in the town of Bethany, home of Martha and Mary, where Lazarus was raised from the dead. Later drive to the Dead Sea to see the caves at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden. Enroute take time for a swim in the mineral- rich waters of the Dead Sea, renowned for its healing properties.  At the oasis town of Jericho, visit the excavations of the oldest city in the world.

Day 8: EASTER SUNDAY

This being the day of Jesus’ resurrection, join the Entry of the Latin Patriarch to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and attend the Pontifical Mass.  In the afternoon we visit the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St John the Baptist. We visit the Church of Visitation where Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, and proclaimed the Magnificat and the church built over the birthplace of John the Baptist. Dinner and transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Nairobi
