Buffalo Springs, Samburu & Shaba National Reserves
Buffalo Springs, Samburu and Shaba are game reserves located North of Mt. Kenya in the semi arid region, occupied by the nomads.
The three reserves are adjacent to each other and covers similar type of landscape and vegetation. Although Samburu and Shaba are extremely dry, running through both parks is the Ewaso Nyiro (Black River), home to crocodiles and hippos. Herds of buffalo also come down to the waters to cool down. Samburu also adjoins Buffalo Springs and to the East is the Shaba National Reserve.
